125: Time as an Emotional State of Being

APPLE PODCASTS | SPOTIFY

Time flows on like a river’s song,

We cannot hold or sway its course for long.

In joy-filled moments, time takes flight,

And life is lived with all our might.

But fear and stress can make time slow,

Our worries grow, and our hearts can’t glow.

Time is what we make it, this we know,

A mirror of our thoughts, a river’s flow.

〰️ Palmy Kitti

Let’s discuss the universal concept of time ⏳, what it is, what it might mean to you, and the rhythm of time. It might seem like time follows a universal rhythm, but there’s this guy you’ve probably heard of named Albert Einstein, who figured out in his special 〰️ Theory of Relativity that time is not the same for everyone. The way time passes depends on where you are and how you are moving.

Imagine for a second that you are watching a ball bouncing 🏀. If two people are watching the same ball, they might not view the action the same way. The same holds true for time. Two people 👫 in two different places (or even the same place) might have totally different perceptions about how long something takes.

Have you ever had a super long day at work that seems like it won’t end and your colleague makes a comment about how quickly the day is going by? This is exactly what we are talking about. Time is a weird concept.

Time is Relative

We know that time is relative, but why should you care? The relative nature of time made us stop and think about the importance of choosing activities that bring us happiness, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose because all of this help to shape our subjective experience of time.

When we engage in activities that we find enjoyable and meaningful, time can seem to pass more quickly, allowing us to fully experience the moment and make the most of our time. This is why it is important to take advantage of opportunities to do things that bring us joy and make us feel good so that we can have a more positive and fulfilling life. 🤓🤓

The sad 😰😰  reality is that so often in our lives, the day-to-day responsibilities and pressures of life can get in the way of our ability to fully enjoy and experience the moment. Whether it’s work, household chores, financial worries, or other responsibilities, these distractions can consume our time and energy, leaving us feeling drained and stressed.

As a result, our subjective experience of time can become burdened, and time can seem to move more slowly and without meaning.

What Brings You Joy and Fulfillment?

What brings you joy and fulfillment?  Are you currently maximizing your time with those people and those activities? If not, it’s time to push pause and evaluate how you can change that.

It is a heartbreaking 💔 reality that despite our best intentions, life, and work often seem to get in the way of us doing the things that bring us joy and fulfillment. Our time on this earth is limited and we do not know how much of it we have left.

Think about it, at the end of our lives, will we look back and be proud of the long hours spent at work, or will we regret not making time for the things that truly mattered? Will we be filled with regret for the opportunities missed and the time wasted on things that didn’t bring us joy?

The answer is clear. No one ever looks back on their life with the wish they had worked more, spent more hours in their cubicle, or pulled long hours at a soul-sucking job – they all wish they had lived more. 😕😕

What will you look back on with fondness and pride when your time on this earth is done? Will it be the long hours spent working on a budget, the countless meetings about work projects, or emails that seemed so important at the time?

Or will it be the moments that truly mattered, the moments that brought tears of joy to your eyes and a warm feeling to your heart? Will it be the memory of your daughter’s first piano 🎼recital and the way she played with such grace and passion? Or the sound of the crowd cheering as your son scores his first soccer goal? You guys, life is short and time is precious.

These are the moments that will stay with us forever, the memories that will bring us comfort and joy even in our darkest hours. These are the moments that will matter to us in the end, the moments that will define our lives and make them truly worthwhile.

Time Through a Child’s Eye

As children, time often seems to move at a snail’s 🐌 pace.

Days, weeks, and months stretch on endlessly, and it seems like we’ll never reach the milestones we’re eagerly awaiting.

☀️ Summer vacations, holidays, and 🧁🥳 birthdays all seem to take forever to arrive. But as we grow older, time suddenly starts moving at breakneck speed. Before we know it, years have flown by, and we find ourselves looking back in wonder at how quickly time has passed.

As we approach the later stages of our lives, we often start to feel that time is becoming increasingly scarce.

The years we have left start to feel like a precious resource that we need to make the most of. We start to become more mindful of how we spend our time and how much of it we have left to spend doing the things that truly matter to us.

This sense of urgency often leads people to reflect on their lives and the things that are most important to them. We start to realize that the things we once took for granted – the time spent with loved ones, the opportunities to pursue our passions, our hobbies, the freedom to live life to live the life that we love– are the things that will truly make us happy in the end.

In the end, the realization that time is finite and precious is a powerful motivator to live life to the fullest and make the most of every moment. It drives us to focus on the things that truly matter and to chase our dreams, rather than simply counting down the days until we’re done.

Passive Income

One of the best ways to achieve this separation of time 🕰 and income 💰 is through multifamily apartment passive investment. The reason why we are SO passionate about time and the value creation there is that this type of investment provides a steady stream of income that is not tied to your time and energy.

Instead, it’s generated by the rental income of 🏢 multifamily apartments, allowing the investor (you!) to passively earn income without the need to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations.

We think this is a beautiful thing, and in this way, passive income through multifamily apartments provides the freedom to spend time on what truly matters, whether that be with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or giving back to the community. It allows individuals to make the most of their time and fulfill their lives with truly meaningful moments. And that, my friends, is a life worth living.
