Hello to our Cashflow Multipliers team! How is everyone doing this week? Life is happening so fast and we can’t believe we’re already in the 🌻🌱spring season!  And we still have so much to do and accomplish the rest of the year. But before we dive into any of that, recently one of the best things we did for ourselves was taking a much-needed trip to 🌊 Malibu!

It was the perfect time to recharge these introverted batteries so we can jump back in and hit the ground running on other projects, making sure we’re staying focused on our goals and really getting clarity on how we want to spend our days – especially when it comes to our investment opportunities.

We’d also say one of the most important things we’ve done to support ourselves, and ultimately our business is to check in ourselves to make sure we’re on track to tackle those big, hairy, audacious goals we set in 2022!

But we can’t do any of that without a little R&R– rest and recharge.

For those who don’t know, we’re actually big-time introverts. 😬😬 Shocking, we know, for two gals with a podcast, but we’ll get to that in a second. Real estate is an extroverted career and being able to operate as an introvert in an extroverted world is not for the faint of heart.

Seriously, shout out to all our introverts out there! We see you and respect you…from afar.

When the government said “stay 6 feet apart to practice social distancing” we said “only 6 feet?!” 😆

Now, look at us, navigating this extroverted world with the rest of them.

Today’s episode is for you, fellow introverted investor. Because here’s the secret: you can still be a wildly successful apartment investor as an introvert.

You’re going to have to trust us on this one as we have found ways that we can be introverts while still growing and thriving in this apartment syndication world that requires us to be out in front of our fellow co-GPs (General Partners), passive investors and our team!

This can feel incredibly uncomfortable to be what feels out of our “genius” zone. Apartment syndication is our genius zone, but that world also requires us to be “extroverts.” We feel a little bit like aliens in our hometown sometimes!

To be clear, this isn’t us trying to change anything about who you are. We’re not asking you to become extroverts to fit in– this is about using your natural talents to be just as successful as an investor as the extrovert next to you. Both are talented, savvy, and great leaders.

One just thrives when the wait staff at the restaurant sings “Happy Birthday” for all to hear while the other wants the earth to swallow them whole.

For those of you who know us, we dread anything that involves being on stage or “live” anything. Including Facebook or Instagram lives. It’s just draining for us to always have that feeling of being “on.”

👉 For us, we feel this the most when we have to attend real estate conferences. There’s all this talking and networking and happy hour invites before dinner invites and while you love your like minded investors- you just wanna wrap yourself in that big fluffy robe and draw a bath in the hotel.

The feeling of being “on” we feel very deeply and as introverts, we are very aware of when we have to be “on” and that often looks like being engaging and putting our best selves forward and our energy is always at 100. Trust us, that is not our natural state of being introverts. 🥵🥵

We don’t mean to come off as people who are ungrateful for the opportunities we have been given. We love the time we get to spend with our people/ our tribe, but there is a lot of prep work that we have to do to make sure we’re at our best selves so we’re not running to the nearest quiet corner every other hour.

But we will go to Malibu again on the first. The first chance we get that is.

Even starting this podcast was a huge leap of faith for us. We were terrified to put our voices out there. I mean, how many people do you know have a podcast these days?! We just felt like another voice in the crowd– who would even listen?

There were a lot of questions that we were asking ourselves before we started this 🎙️ podcast. Questions like what would we say on the podcast, who even are we to start something like this?

We even delayed recording because we were terrified that we simply were not good enough.

Man, I am so glad we did not listen to those voices in our head and lived true to what we talk about here so often: Feel the fear and do it anyway.

Turns out, over 30 episodes later (and just getting started!) We do have a lot to say. And I’d say no one knows that better than you guys, the ultimate tribe! 💋 Team Cashflow Multipliers!

And that’s just speaking into our microphones as we sip tea comfortably at home.

We’re not even talking about the big leagues– on stage live and in person with a literal spotlight on us. This happens at conferences mainly where we’re talking to other investors about some of the stuff we talk about on here.

Just, ya know, in a room full of hundreds of people! Plus, in this world, networking with other investors is not just encouraged, it’s mandatory.

Again, we know these are opportunities people would literally die for so in no way shape, or form are we saying anything negative about the experience, just simply reflecting on how it feels for us in our own lived experience. Deep breaths, feel the fear, and do it anyway‼️

Because here’s the other thing 〰️ once we push through fear, we come out the other side feeling euphoric! It’s literally like fear is just a brick wall trying to stop us from that incredible, accomplished, and energized feeling ⚡ as soon as we step through the other side. We feel so connected and energized in the room sharing about what we’re most passionate about, apartment investing!

We just have to remind ourselves how we feel immediately afterward and that’s really the push that keeps us going.

Now maybe you’re not on stage pushing through that feeling but there is a more universal experience that we think most people can relate to– exercising. 🤸🏃‍♀️

There’s a reason we have a real estate podcast and not a health and wellness blog, we dread working out. And we have a feeling that’s a lot of you out there too. Mentally, it’s just hard to “get” there.

There are so many days when we look at each other not feeling like we want to take a run to start our days and we pile on the excuses. The laundry, a new true crime doc, promising each other we’ll do it tomorrow… 😵‍💫

But ultimately these are all excuses and we have to remember the feeling we get once it’s all over.

Even up to the point where we’re tying up those laces we are not stoked by the idea, but we press on anyway. Before you know it, we come back out of breath, red in the face, and feeling so much better.

On the flip side, when it comes to the apartment investing world, we often tell ourselves “Okay, this dread that we’re feeling is just because we’re stepping out of our comfort zone. But we know the rewards will far outweigh the dread. So we’re going to feel the feelings.”

Are you listening? That’s the key, is to let ourselves feel our feelings. Not suppress them, not mask them, not make excuses for them but feel them deeply. Every awkward, uncomfortable, and less than satisfactory emotion leading up to what we know we have to do will make that other side feeling that much richer, blissful, and well worth it.

Moral of the story: we’re gonna leave the health and wellness to the experts, like Gwyneth Paltrow and her team at Goop, and leave the apartment real estate investing to us.

So here’s the million-dollar question we have for you: Are you willing to feel the feelings, even though they’re not the most desirable, to get to what you want?

If the one thing away from this episode is asking yourself the question “am I willing to feel the feelings that are awkward, uncomfortable, and uncertain?” then we have done our job. We just want people who are willing to try, that’s the most important piece to this whole thing, your willingness to step into those spaces that you dread.

If you answered yes, then you’re good to go golden! 🌟

So what are the things we do to amp ourselves up and step outside of that comfort zone? Everyone has their thing right– whether it’s listening to our favorite song or giving ourselves a pep talk in the mirror, we’re always thinking about the result or outcome we want to achieve when this is said and done. Usually, that’s one thing for us 〰️ making an impact and helping high-level entrepreneurs secure their financial futures.

The feeling of joy, connection, and accomplishment are our driving factors.  Of course, playing good music and moving our bodies also help. They also remind us that what we say may not work for everyone, but for those who really connect with us want to hear more.  The Kitti Sisters are not everyone’s cup of tea, and we’re not trying to be! We can only be ourselves and the right people who identify with us are all the audience we need! 👈

Okay so let’s let them in on a couple of our tips when it comes to our routines for recording the podcast, going live before a webinar, or before hitting that stage spotlight.

👉 Be intentional with our time, and with the investors’ time. You know when you’re out at dinner with friends and there’s that one friend who’s always looking at their phone? Checking and texting other people and you’re like HELLO I’m right here! The. Worst. There’s nothing intentional in that, and definitely not a way your investors like to be treated either!

👉 Focus on the outcome we want to achieve. Eye on the prize, right? You’ve heard that a million times. Whether it’s a vision board or manifesting what you want for your future, being crazy obsessed with your goals is what’s going to get you to the other side of financial freedom.

👉 Be ready to serve. Humility and being able to step into the gap for others is what makes this work so rewarding. Sometimes you have to do the hard thing, and commit to helping your team and supporting them in any way they need. It’s not about treating others how you want to be treated, but how they want to be treated. (Credit: Glennon Doyle!)

👉 Be yourself and have fun! Yes you are fun, engaging and dynamic! Don’t let anyone dim your light or make you feel less than– remember being who you are will land you with your people and you’ll find your crew by just being you.

So, lessons learned. We know that after we record any podcasts, speak or attend any conferences, or really any situation where we’re putting ourselves out there, we just need to focus on the result we’re trying to achieve.

What’s our goal in putting ourselves out there?

But here’s what we know about being introverts in an extroverted career. And this is going to feel like tough love for some of you… 💛

There are moments when we must be extroverts. Yeah, let that sink in for a little bit. It means there are moments that we’ve got to show up.

And the reason that’s important to us and important as apartment investors is that we want to create a community, and we want people to feel connected to us and our mission. That’s what our business is for.

And what does hiding do, anyway?

It’s a disservice to our people and community, and beyond that, it doesn’t feel right to us, and our growing followers and friends! 💋

So, we know how to be extroverts when we need to be, but again, that doesn’t mean our introvert core goes away. She’s just a little quieter when we ask her to be!

And it’s definitely a delicate balance. Because after all we are in the industry of know, like, and trust, right?  We can’t hide behind a tree and expect to make the kind of impact that we really want to make.

Not for lack of trying though, but it definitely didn’t work in our favor‼️

So when we say sometimes we need to be extroverts, that means we need to step into a place that is not always comfortable for us yet but we’re willing to go because we know the reward. And we’re more than fine with that‼️
